This month’s featured case comes from Dr Hadeel Matti, showcasing excellent orthodontic planning and treatment execution over a 12 month period.
Before - Photos
E.U. presented with a Class II malocclusion characterised by a deep curve of Spee, lower anterior crowding, and a supra-erupted upper left second molar (#17). The patient’s chief concerns were related to both aesthetics and function, particularly the crowding and deep bite.
Treatment Plan & Progress
A non-extraction clear aligner approach was selected, combined with the use of inter-arch elastics to assist with sagittal correction and vertical control. Treatment was planned in two phases to allow refinement and optimisation of outcomes.
Treatment Progress
- Total of 38 aligners delivered (22 initial + 16 refinement)
- Total treatment time: approximately 12 months
- Consistent use of elastics to support Class II correction and assist with molar intrusion mechanics
- Good patient compliance throughout treatment

Outcome
An excellent clinical outcome was achieved:
- Successful intrusion and repositioning of the supra-erupted UL7 (#17) using aligners and elastics alone
- Levelling of the curve of Spee and correction of the deep bite
- Complete resolution of lower anterior crowding
- Improved inter-arch relationship with a more stable and functional occlusion
- Significant enhancement in smile aesthetics
